Day 1 is so much FUN!

Yay the first 25 days of Bookmas post and I am so excited for this adventure!! I have never been very good at keeping up with this and writing as much as I want to so this is a great challenge for me!

Over the summer, when I was at the library with the kids I babysit for, my little girl picked up a Mouse and Mole book by Wong Herbert Lee. We hurried home and read it together and both feel in love. My little girl has been a struggling reader and really wanted to read some chapter books. This whole series is simple chapter books for readers who are beginning to make that leap. Needless to say I bought the whole series since she liked them so much.
Today I want to talk about Mouse and Mole: A Winter Wonderland. Now I don't know if i have ever mentioned this about me, but I am a crazy person when it comes to winter! I love winter, I love the cold and I especially love love love the snow!! I read this book and I really related to Mouse. Mouse can hardly wait to get out into the snow and play. Mouse has all sorts of big plans, but when she goes to wake Mole so they can play together Mole doesn't want to participate at all. This is a lot like how my family is with snow so I find that funny! Mouse is independent so she decides to play alone and she makes a snow friend to look like Mole. Mole gets to thinking and starts to realize that he doesn't want to miss out on all the fun with his best friend so he gets his snow gear on and goes to meet mouse. I love the fun friendship they have and how the story progresses from here.

I think this whole series is a great addition to any first grade or second grades classroom. The kids will love the books and it is  a great transition to chapter books. They remind me of Frog and Toad, which were my favorite books when I was little!

Have your heard of these books? I would love to hear your thoughts. Have a wonderful day!

Happy Holidays!

Ms. Cara
