Scholastic Warehouse Sale... AKA my favorite day of the year!!!!

I wait for this time of year all year long. All of my favorite teachers on instagram have started posting pictures and I have been counting down the days. Today was the day that I got to go to the scholastic warehouse sale. I would literally live there if I could. This year I feel like I got books that were particularly great and you can bet that I will be doing all that I can to get back there again before it is over!!

Before I show you what I got I would like to give to my strategy for having a successful trip to the warehouse sale.
1.    Sign up for your fast pass. This helps you have a fast and easy check out. Also with a fast pass you get discounts.
2.    Figure out how much you are able to spend. While I wish I could spend all of the money in the world while I am at this event I know that I just can’t so I set money aside and only get what I can afford.
3.    Try and think of some things that you really want to find here. For this warehouse sale I wanted to get some new chapter books to start finding books I would like to do read aloud with.
4.    Know your authors. A lot of times these sales have amazing books that can be hard to find.

Okay now that that is out of the way I can show you what I was able to buy. I am so happy with today’s haul.

In this set I have Penny and Her Doll by Kevin Henkes, James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl, Paint the Wind by Pam Munoz Ryan, Pleasing the Ghost by Sharron Creech, Benny and Penny in Just Pretend by Geoffery Hayes, The Adventures of Ook and Gluck Kung Fu Cavemen by Dav Pilkey, Soup Saturdays by Judy Blume, and Oceans Making Waves by Dan Green.

For these books I am so excited. I think that there is some great read aloud potential here. I also am trying to start getting some class sets so that is why I got three Penny Books. I also just love this book so I needed a few more copies!!
I of course had to get some picture books. Here I have…
Over and Under the Snow by Kate Messner
Playtime Rhymes by Marc Brown
My First Spanish English Dictionary
Say Hello by Rachel Isadora
Mirror Mirror by Marilyn Singer
Mice and Beans by Pam Munoz Ryan
No Jumping on the Bed! by Todd Arnold
Ten Little Caterpillars by Bill Martin Jr

All of were books that I had either read and didn’t own or that I had read about on line. I can’t wait to share these books with kids that I work with every day!

These three books are written by Patricia MacLachlan. I have been reading her books since I was in fourth grade. I feel like she is a writer that I know and trust. Her books make beautiful read alouds and I also just want to have them for myself. The books are
Fly Away
White Fur Flying
Kindred Souls

I plan to make a separate post about these books once I have finished them. I am so glad that I was about to go to this today. It was a great way to start off my week and I hope to make one last trip if at all possible.

ps. I am sorry about my Photos I couldn't get them to turn for some reason.

Ms. Cara
