CHICAGO

This past week my family and I spent a few days in Chicago. I had always wanted to go and I was so excited to spend just a few days away. I love my family and I am very close to them.

This is me and my little sister. We were hanging out inside while we waited for the rain to slow down.
I knew going that Chicago would be much different than the small city I live in Southern Indiana ( I live right across the river from Louisville.) The one thing that I
didn't really plan for was how cold it would be. At home it has been in the high 70’s for a couple weeks, but while we were in Chicago we were lucky if it was 50 degrees…so cold. I also ended up being sick the whole time I was there so that wasn't the best thing ever.

I did LOVE the city and all that it had to offer. I personally am a huge shopper and I loved being able to go shopping and spoil myself just a bit. Of course I am the kind of person that can’t escape my anything so I did spend a lot of time looking at things and thinking that they would be perfect for my future classroom. Chicago has a lot to offer when it comes to educational resources and I wanted to be a part of all of that. I think I will have to go back some time just so that I can go to all of the amazing museums that the city has to offer.

Here are a couple things that I got that I am super excited about. ..

My new J. Crew Teach for America shirt

I have wanted this shirt for months. I love that it is themed for teachers and that it is so fun and bright. It fits great and I can’t wait to wear it on casual days in the classroom. (I will also need the matching tote bag too) Also in case you amazing teachers out there don’t know J. Crew gives a 15% discount to teachers on their purchase so go shopping! You deserve it!!

C is for Chicago

This was the perfect souvenir for me. It goes through each letter in the alphabet and says something special about the city of Chicago. I feel like this will be great to show students what a big city is like. I love the idea of showing my future students that there is more to the world than what is right around them.

Alphabet Block

I have really been thinking a lot about teaching early childhood in my future. I love the thought of continuing to work with preschool students in my future. I think that this book is such a great resource to have in a preschool classroom. The pages are so colorful and they each have something on the page that moves.

I hope that you enjoyed seeing someone my favorite parts of my trip. Have you been to Chicago? What are some of your favorite things to do in Chicago?

Happy Reading!!!
Ms. Cara
