Guys
this week is National Children’s Book week. Let me say that again… It is
national Children’s book week! How amazing is that and how very amazing is this
poster!? It is drawn by the illustrator of the fabulous Fancy Nancy book series.
I
want all who are reading this to know that children’s books change lives every
day. They help students and children learn who that want to be. They teach
children how to be brave and how to be a good friend. They help students to
learn the difference between right and wrong. Children’s books show children a
world that without a book they may never know. Reading takes children to
magical places like Hogwarts and Narnia. These books give children the power to
create, learn, and explore all by turning a page. That’s the true power of
reading.
This week I know I have tried to share my love.
I believe that what you read as a child helps you to become the person you are.
For me reading Matilda and Harry Potter did that for me. Hermione taught be
that sometimes you have to be brave to be smart and that knowledge truly is
power. As a 12 year old girl reading Harry Potter Hermione taught me that girls
can be strong and stick up for their friends. She was my hero when I was 12. I
also will always love Matilda. When I was little the movie Matilda came out and
that was the first time I saw someone love books the way that I did. When I got
older and read the book when I was going through a Roald Dahl stage I found
that I just related to her so much. She shows the true importance of being
smart and knowing how to use your powers for the best. (Also Ms. Honey may be
my very favorite teacher of all time!)
I
am so thankful to all of those authors that dared to dream and write down their
thoughts to share with the children of the world. Children’s books are
wonderful part of the world.
Keep
reading,
Ms. Cara
