It's Almost Here!

Woohoo in just one short days I will be sharing a book a day for Valentines Day. I will be posting 14 of my very favorite little books to share with the world. I love valentines books and while most of them have a similar story it is a story that needs to be told. Love is such a gift. In the world that we live it children need to know that love is the greatest super of all. With love come happiness. I hope that my book suggestions can be of help and that I can give some great advice on how to teach with them. Enjoy and please share any books that you may love for the fun heart filled holiday.

All we need is love,

Brown Girl Dreaming

I have one type of book that I alway connect very deeply too. I love a novel that is written in free verse poetry. I always read these books and become over whelmed with love and emotions for the subject the book is about, as well as, the perfection on the words. I love words and a free verse poems make the words fly off the page and warm my heart.

In the past few years I have read beautiful stories such as Inside Out and Back Again, The One and Only Ivan, and The Dreamer. The books have become some of my favorite stories and are three books that I always recommend. These books are written in a simple, but beautiful way that makes every moment in the story more perfect than the last.

Today I finished the book Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson. This is the story of her growing up and becoming a writer. It is such a beautifully written story and I love how every word just jumps of the page. She had such an intersting life and makes the most simple moments in life the most electrifying. She talks about her struggle with reading and how words were her everything growing up. She talks about growing up african american during the civil rights movement. She spoke of her family and their happiness and hardships. She brought me to tears.

I loved every page of this book and I truly believe that this book should win the Newbery award. I have been wrong the past few words but I think this is the year that I will be right!. I can’t wait to hear other peoples thoughts on this.

“I believe in on day and someday and this perfect moment called Now.”

Yay NetFlix

I think I have said it before and I am more than willing to say it again because well its true! I LOVE LEMONY SNICKET!!

Many people aren't fans of him, but I really think that everything he does is so great! I grew up reading A Series of Unfortunate Events and they really sparked my imagination. Now I am reading his All the Wrong Questions series and loving every page of it. When I finish the third book there will 100% be a post.

I am excited to say that I recently read that there is going to be a new Snicket series on netflix and I want to just say now that I am freaking out. This series will be a show based on the A series of Unfortunate Events book. Yes, I know there is already a movie, but it doesn't have all of my favorite characters and I think that Snicket is ready to breath some new light into these characters. I can’t wait to learn more about this and to watch it the second that it comes out!

Do you love these books the way I do? If you could turn any book series into a TV show what would it be?
Happy Reading,

Ms. Cara

Ps. Here is Lemony's article about the series if you would like to read it!! http://www.buzzfeed.com/isaacfitzgerald/the-moral-of-snow-white-is-never-eat-apples

Yes Please!

So I finished my first big girl book of 2015 last night! I finished Yes Please by Amy Poehler and loved every single page of it. It is just exactly what I need in my life right now. It was funny. It was up beat and it was honest! I am so glad I read it and you will be too.

Also today I received a very fun scholastic order! A few of my favorites are…

I am on a manners and feeling kick lately and I really just do not know what has caused this silliness. This is a story of a somewhat serious panda that has some dounuts. He is trying to share them, but everyone expects him to just give them to him. This does not make him happy and he will not share with these friends. Finally, someone asks politely and Panda gives away all of his donuts. I love the pictures and it has a cute one line ending that cracks me up.

Thank you Mo for introducing the world to how spectacular Piggie and Elephant are as friends. I wish all friends we this fabulous. In this story, Piggie gets invited to her first party, but she doesn't know any thing about parties. Lucky for her Gerald is an expert. He knows what to do for a fancy party, a swim party, and a costume party. This story shows a perfect party and two perfect best friends!

I am absolutely falling in love with Todd Parr. I have blogged about his quite a lot recently. I am loving his feel good messages and fun pictures. I love that he wrote a book about saving the earth and it will be so so perfect for Earth day!

I love getting new books to add to my library! It makes me so happy and I love sharing them with you!

Happy Reading,

Ms. Cara
