I am trying something new for Christmas this Year!!

This years Thanksgiving was great! I have a wonderful family and we had so much to be thankful for. Here are a few pictures with some of my favorite people! I love my family and I am so thankful for all the love and support that they give me. I didn't get a picture with my dad sadly, but rest assured that we spent the whole day together. I just wanted to be able to share some of my family with you. In the past six months alone my family has helped me through a broken heart, stressful test taking induced melt downs, and student teaching. They are all the best support team that a girl could ask for!!

I as always am very very very thankful for books, children's books mostly!  It is clear that I love children’s books, but one of my favorite kinds of children books are Christmas books. I love how they always have some amazing stories about what Christmas is really all about. I will always think that these are a perfect gift for children!

This year for the blog, I have decided to do a different book each day. I am calling it “25 days of Bookmas” I will write about a different Christmas book each day. I am excited to share some of my favorites with you and I am hoping you will share some of your favorites with me!! I will start on December 1 and go until Christmas!!

Have a wonderful Holiday season and I hope you enjoy finding some new holiday classics for your family and classroom!!

 Happy Holidays!

A new job, a new class, and my new friends

Today I started my brand new job as an Aide in my first grade classroom that I student taught in as well as a third grade classroom.  I am learning so much being in a third grade room, but my heart is still with the little ones.

Today in first grade, we made thankful pumpkins. Each child had 8 strips of orange paper and they wrote something that they were thankful for on each strip. It was so fun to see what they were thankful for and how awesome they did!!

In third grade we got to visit our kindergarten buddies!! It was so cool to see the “big kids” working with the littles. I love that kind of work. We made turkeys for a free Teacher Pay Teachers pack call Turkey Talk!! They turned out so individual and so awesome. I can’t wait to make many more memories with my kids and my school family!!

Learning is magic,

I love my new tutor student!!

I just wanted to share that today was such a good day with my new tutor student. She is 6 and in the class that I am student teaching in. She is in one of our lowest reading groups and really just needs so extra word work and then I think she will move right on up!

Today we went over twenty sight words for first grade. We played a matching game and read a book in this reading comprension packet by The Moffatt Girls. I LOVE seller on teachers pay teachers and my tutor friends love using her products!! For this packet there are little stories and questions. I laminate them and and put them together using a binger ring. This way they can read the story and write the answer using a dry erase marker so that each story can be used over and over again!!

I am excited to work with this student!! She is so eager and willing to learn. She was so excited to have this time to herself. I can’t wait to start seeing some real growth with her.

Stay Inspired,

Ms. Cara

Ps. Here is The Moffatt Girls blog. I love it and read it all the time!!

I miss being Ms, Cara

Can I just say something that I try no to admit often…. I REALLY MISS MY PRESCHOOLERS!!! Like all day every day. I love working with first graders because they really are so independent and can do some many things, but I also miss all of the newness and excitement of preschool. It is their first magical experience with school, everything is so new and magical.

Sometimes I day dream about starting my own program. I dream about how much of a difference I could make. I dream of all the little heart that I could inspire to love school. Who knows what the future holds for me! All I know is that I had to let it out! I love preschool and miss them so much!!

What I really miss is being called Ms.Cara. That seems like the best name for me and while Ms.Farmer is cute and I love hearing it a million times a day it just doesn't have the same ring as Ms. Cara.
