We Were Liars

This summer I have not been able to do all of the reading or blogging that I had hoped to do. It been a very busy summer, but I did have a chance to read a wonderful Young Adult book. I am a big fan of Young Adult literature it is almost like a guilty pleasure to me. I love John Green, but it truly bothers me that so many people believe that he is the voice of Young Adult literature. There are so many people that are writing and trying to make Young Adult literature a more respected genre.

E. Lockhart is a writer that has been working to do this for years. I have been reading her books since I was 14. This summer I read “We Were Liars.” This book was amazing and far more complex than I expected it to be when I started reading it.

 WE WERE LIARS
WE WERE LIARS

It is a story about a rich family and the secrets that they are hiding. The story has many twist and turns. It is such a fast read and truly has you guessing the whole time you are reading. I read this in just a few days and could have easily read it in one night if I would have had the time.

The story is amazing and the words are mystifying. Lockhart is such a beautiful writer and has a way of making the characters seem so real. I loved this book and if you are looking for a great read that’s not a children’s book this is perfect.

I hope that you all are having a fun summer. I am looking forward to school getting back in session and starting my student teaching adventure. I think I am going to try and blog once a week about things that I have learned and what I am doing at my new school.
